I first saw Max on TV with Lorraine in 2015 and thought that looks fun, a couple of weeks later I met a colleague for lunch at the Abbey Centre Westminster and there is a life-size Max in the foyer offering the first lesson free so I persuaded a friend to come with me………………. and it was fun so I signed up for the next 6. That was it I was hooked. At the time I had never liked exercise, always put it off and was around a size 20/22.  Being told to move more by the lovely Max had a bigger effect on me than anything ever could and over the next 4 years I lost around 4 stone and got to a size 18.  I even took the DVD on holiday with me and my husband is still astounded on holiday when I say ‘I am going to the gym’ !!! I have never liked exercise other than horse riding till I met Max.

Cut to 2020 – well what can we say about this year? Other than I really really could not have got through it without Max.

My office closed on Friday 13th March  – last year I had started doing the Monday class then wfh on a Thursday and Maxing before work; lock down came and I started adding in a bitesize on a Wednesday but that really isn’t enough  – so it went to 3 full sessions then 4 and with no riding it then went to 5 mornings a week – so much better than commuting. I lost my mum in May and it was Max that got me through her nursing her for a week and then the death and strange funeral.

You see it’s not just that I am a stone and a half down in weight and a different shape (2 inches off legs, arms, chest, hips and 5 off waist and midriif!) fitter than I have ever been (which means my riding is also miles better) but the mental health effect for me has been as great as getting fit. ………………………………. and it is Max that has done it. I started working with Maxine at the beginning of January. I was struggling to lose weight I knew that I need some help.

Maxine was great. We talked through what my bad habits were, and where things could be tweaked or changed. Week by week we addressed each bad habit and tried to find alternatives. Maxine came into my life in January as I felt stuck in a rut and found it hard to shift the additional weight I had put on over the last couple of years during Covid and lockdown.
